The Advanced Young Composers Project covers the principals of harmony, voice leading, form, score reading and ear training. You’ll compose short works for each class which are played by visiting TSO ensembles. The final project is an orchestral work performed by the Tucson Symphony Orchestra at the Young Composers Reading Sessions in May. Many graduates from this program have continued to pursue composition at the undergraduate and graduate level at universities and conservatories across the United States.
In celebration of Make Music Day 2018, MakeMusic is hosting a composition contest for young composers, aged 13-21. The winner will receive cash and other prizes. In addition, their composition will be performed live in select cities as part of national Make Music Day celebrations on June 21st, 2018. Submission Deadline is April 15, 2018.
