TSO WELCOMES JOSÉ LUIS GOMEZ, MUSIC DIRECTOR
José Luis Gomez arrives at the TSO after catapulting to international attention when he won First Prize at the International Sir Georg Solti Conductors Competition in Frankfurt in September 2010 securing a rare unanimous decision from the jury. He was immediately appointed Assistant Conductor of the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, a post created especially for him by his mentor, Paavo Jarvi, and the orchestra. José Luis Gomez made his TSO debut in October, 2014 conducting a work by one of his favorite composers, Nielsen’s Symphony No. 2, “The Four Temperaments,” and Chee-Yun in the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto. He returned in 2015-16 conducting Amit Peled performing Elgar’s Cello Concerto, the Classic Series program, Fountains of Life: Respighi and Strauss, and the new Family Series with the TSO’s first performance of Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf since 2002. This season sees Gomez make his Carnegie Hall debut and as his Moscow State Conservatory debut as well.

When the bears come home to find their nice, neat house looking like it’s been hit by a whirlwind, they get riled and Dusty Locks runs home so fast the dust doesn’t settle for a week.
