George Hanson calls Stars of the Symphony “a great opportunity to get to know our players up close and personal. The program is tailored to showcase the individual talents of our wonderful TSO musicians.” The program will open with Carl Nielsen’s Wind Quintet and be followed by Michael Tilson Thomas’ Street Song for Symphonic Brass. The piece by the San Francisco Symphony Music Director has been called a deft blend of “lyrical and lively wind writing with a striking five-note theme that stays in the memory.” The program continues with Benjamin Britten’s Simply Symphony, Op. 4 and closes with George Frideric Handel’s Concerto grosso, Op. 6, No. 12, in B minor.
