Stuart Chafetz, conductor

This full sensory experience will have you on the edge of your seat and in complete awe. Cirque Musica combines the spell-binding grace and dare-devil athleticism of today’s greatest circus performers with the sensory majesty of some of the greatest popular and classical music of all time played by the full Tucson Symphony Orchestra. This is not a concert...it’s an event!

Cirque Musica is a celebration of music and performance artistry for the entire family. The production blends the spell-binding grace and dare-devil athleticism of today’s greatest circus performers with the sensory majesty of the greatest music of all time from classics to pops.

Among the featured acts are acrobats on the strap, hoops and the wheel, the “golden statues” and the flying violinist performing the first movement of Tchaikovsky’s beloved Violin Concerto. The music will also include such favorites as the 1812 Overture, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Mars from Holst’s The Planets and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5.

Stuart Chafetz has worked with Chris Botti, Roberta Flack, George Benson, Richard Chamberlain, The Chieftains, Jennifer Holliday, John Denver, Marvin Hamlisch, Thomas Hampson, Wynonna Judd, Randy Newman, Jon Kimura Parker and Bernadette Peters. He previously held posts as resident conductor of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and associate conductor of the Louisville Orchestra. This season Chafetz will be on the podium in Seattle, Detroit, Naples, Phoenix, Cincinnati, Milwaukee and Vancouver among many more orchestras. He last conducted the Tucson Symphony when trumpeter Byron Stripling performed in January 2016.
