Public Can Purchase Discounted Tickets to Star Wars: A New Hope in Concert, Messiah & A Cirque Holiday with Troupe Vertigo to Provide to Vets

(Tucson, AZ)─ The Tucson Symphony Orchestra and the Southern Arizona VA Healthcare System are celebrating the Fourth annual Seat for a Vet campaign. Throughout the 2018 holiday season the public will be able to buy a Seat for A Vet to TSO’s performances of Star Wars: A New Hope in Concert, Messiah and A Cirque Holiday with Troupe Vertigo.

Since its inception, the Southern Arizona community has come together to bring the healing power of music to more than 150 Southern Arizona Veterans and their families. The TSO is proud to underwrite a portion of the cost of the seats so they can be purchased at a discount. Tickets, $45 for prime seating (including wheelchair accessible), are available for performances of:

  • Star Wars: A New Hope in Concert on Saturday, November 24 at 4:00 p.m. and Sunday, November 25 at 2:00 p.m.
  • Handel’s Messiah on Saturday, December 15 at 4:00 p.m. and Sunday, December 16 at 2:00 p.m. at Catalina Foothills High School, 4300 E. Sunrise Dr. in Tucson
  • Cirque Holiday with Troupe Vertigo on Saturday, December 22 at 4:00 p.m. and Sunday, December 23 at 2:00 p.m. at the Tucson Music Hall.

The Southern Arizona VA Health Care System will distribute the tickets to Veterans. Seats purchased are tax deductible.

This year marks the first time Seat for a Vet tickets have been available for the TSO’s annual Thanksgiving weekend film screening. The 1977 film, Star Wars: A New Hope is projected onto the big screen while the TSO performs John Williams’ iconic, Academy Award-winning score. This year also marks the first time the TSO has featured  contortionists, aerial artists and cirque acrobats in a holiday show. The Los Angeles Times calls Troupe Vertigo, “a never ending flow of creative expression.” The TSO will perform classic Christmas music including selections from The Nutcracker.

The Tucson Symphony’s Messiah is a favorite Tucson holiday tradition. Bruce Chamberlain will conduct the TSO, TSO Chorus and four soloists in Handel’s pulse-pounding, earth-shaking masterpiece in the acoustically superb Catalina Foothills High School auditorium.

Seat for a Vet tickets and tickets to all TSO concerts can be purchased at www.tucsonsymphony.org, at the Tucson Symphony Orchestra Box Office, 2175 N. Sixth Avenue or by phone at 520.882.8585.  TSO Box Office hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. unless otherwise indicated.
