The TSO Young Artists Competition takes place each fall, with more than 50 young instrumental musicians (ages 8 – 22) competing for cash prizes and an opportunity to perform with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra. The competition is open to applicants living in Pima, Pinal, Santa Cruz, and Cochise counties, with the exception of the college division, which is open to applicants living anywhere in the state of Arizona.

Division III: elementary & middle school students, 8th grade and younger
Division II: high school students, grades 9 – 12
Division I: college students who have NOT reached their 23rd birthday
Eligible instruments: strings, woodwinds, brass, melodic percussion, harp & piano.
Application deadline: Friday, August 25, 2017 (postmarked)
Divisions I and III: Saturday, September 16, 2017
Division II: Sunday, September 17, 2017
Finals (all divisions): Sunday, October 1, 2017 at the Tucson Symphony Center
