Katherine Phillips

Assistant Principal and Utility Horn

Katherine Phillips serves as Assistant Principal/Utility Horn with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra. Alongside her position in the TSO, she serves as Third Horn of the West Valley Symphony in Surprise, AZ. In addition to her professional positions, Ms. Phillips has previously performed in the Arizona MusicFest, the Women’s Orchestra of Arizona, and has maintained a consistent freelance career across North Louisiana, Texas, and Arkansas prior to moving to Arizona.

Ms. Phillips is originally from Shreveport, Louisiana and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance from the University of Louisiana-Monroe, and is currently finishing her Master’s degree at Arizona State University where she serves as John Ericson’s teaching assistant. Her main horn professors include Thomas Hundemer, Dr. James Boldin, and Dr. John Ericson. Outside of her musical career, Ms. Phillips enjoys crocheting, reading, and hiking.
