TSO principal flute Alexander Lipay solos on Ibert’s flute concerto on a concert of impressionistic journeys from France to Latin America.

Debussy’s charming Suite bergamasque is most well-known for its popular third movement, “Clair de lune,” while Jacques Ibert’s effervescent concerto is a supremely demanding showpiece of the flute concerto repertoire, coaxing brilliant sounds and melodies from the soloist and orchestra.

Argentinian conductor, Fernanda Lastra, takes us on a whirlwind Latin-American journey, to Brazil (Clarice Assad), Argentina (Piazzolla), and the Mexican island of Janitzio (Revueltas). Hold on tight!
