José Luis Gomez, conductor

Edward “Duke” Ellington: Harlem (orch. Luther Henderson & Maurice Peress)

José’s Take:

Come dance with me as I take you across the floor in some wonderful interpretations of the waltz. While you take a breath, listen to the music of Duke Ellington, which the Duke himself played at the piano with leading American orchestras. And allow me to introduce the music of Ulysses Kay, an African-American composer and a native of Tucson who studied at the University of Arizona.
