Shiyeon Sung, conductor

Carl Maria von Weber: Oberon Overture
Maurice Ravel: Mother Goose
Einojuhani Rautavaara: Cantus Arcticus, Concerto for Birds and Orchestra
Igor Stravinsky: Firebird Suite (1919)

Internationally-acclaimed conductor Shiyeon Sung makes her TSO debut in an exploration of fairy tales depicted in vibrant orchestral colors. Ravel’s charming portrayal of innocence and the enchantment of Stravinsky’s Firebird contrast with the sounds of real-life birds in Finnish composer Rautavaara’s haunting evocation of Arctic song. A showcase program for your TSO!

In Memory of Joan MacDonald
