Mahler Piano Quartet

Mahler’s sole surviving work of chamber music, the piano quartet was composed when Mahler was a first-year student at the Vienna Conservatory. Mahler’s lifetime output of much more large-scale works quickly eclipsed this haunting quartet, which wasn’t published until rediscovered by the composer’s widow in the 1960s.
