Lesson Plan: Exploring Musical Energy

Lesson Plan: Exploring Musical Energy

The lesson this week is about musical energy in a fun compare-and-contrast activity! Using painting and colors helps children put abstract musical ideas into recognizable differences that they can more readily discuss.

Fun fact: The video resource for the second piece is from the Orquesta Sinfónica Simón Bolívar in Venezuela – where our Music Director José Luis Gomez is from! For older students or to add in a geography or history extension to this lesson, have your child explore where Venezuela is and how it has used music education to enact a cultural shift through El Sistema.
