My 92.9 to Broadcast Live

(Tucson, AZ)—The Tucson Symphony Orchestra’s 2017-18 Just for Kids Series opens Saturday, September 23 with the TSO Wind Quintet performing Peter and the Wolf, Sergei Prokofiev’s beloved tale of the courageous Peter and his animal friends and their quest to capture a ravenous wolf. In this tale the musicians tell the story, helped out by a narrator. Will Peter be able to catch the wolf with his friends the bird, cat, and duck?  Come dressed as your favorite animal and find out with the Wind Quintet! Performances are at 10:00 and 11:15 a.m. at the Tucson Symphony Center (TSC). There is plenty of free parking at the Tucson Symphony Center, 2175 N. Sixth Ave. just south of Grant Road.

After the performances an Opening Day mini-festival awaits at the TSC. Joining the TSO for the opening festivities for the first time this year is the Humane Society of Southern Arizona to provide information about their children’s activities.  For the first time also there will be an Exploration Station where kids will draw what they hear while listening to music. The festival will feature face painting, a balloon artist, a roaming magician, games and prizes for every child.  My 92.9 will broadcast live from the event and Mustache Mike’s Italian Ice will be selling refreshments. The festivities are free for everyone with a suggested admission of $3 per person at the door.

Just for Kids is a popular series of fun, informal, interactive chamber ensemble concerts lasting 45 to 50 minutes. The performances use humor, story-telling, demonstrations and participation to introduce classical music and orchestral instruments in an entertaining and kid-friendly environment to families including those with very young children. The programs are presented at 10:00 and 11:15 a.m. on the third Saturday of every month September through March except in December. Get a free Just for Kids season pass by registering online at www.tucsonsymphony.org or by phone at 520.882.8585.

The TSO Just for Kids Opening Day is sponsored by Cox Charities, Tucson Federal Credit Union, Kinder Morgan and the Arizona Commission on the Arts. Additional support for the series comes from Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Arizona and the Diamond Family Music Education Endowment Fund.
