Three Singers, Rock Band and the TSO to Perform Hits by Carole King, Tina Turner, Janis Joplin, Aretha Franklin, Pat Benatar, Heart, Carly Simon and more

Tucson is Only Third Symphony to Perform Women Rock but it is Booked for 15 more in Next 18 Months

(Tucson, AZ)─Get ready to feel the earth move under your feet at the Tucson Symphony Orchestra’s SuperPops! concert, Women Rock. Three of today’s best singers will rock Tucson Music Hall Saturday, March 10 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 11 at 2:00 p.m. with favorites by the legendary women of rock and roll: Carole King, Tina Turner, Janis Joplin, Aretha Franklin, Pat Benatar, Heart, Carly Simon and more.

Backed by a five-piece band and the full Tucson Symphony Orchestra, 2017 Grammy Award nominee singer/songwriter Cassidy, star of A Night with Janis Joplin Katrina Rose and the Broadway, TV and Jazz vocal star Shayna Steele who most recently starred in Hairspray Live on NBC will belt out some of the biggest hits by female artists from the past 50 years.

Songs include “I Feel the Earth Move,” “What’s Love Got To Do With It,” “Freeway of Love,” “Proud Mary,” “Piece of My Heart,” “Respect,” “Hit Me With Your Best Shot,” “Love Is A Battlefield,” “These Dreams,” “You’re So Vain,” “Dancing in the Street,” “Flashdance,” “You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman” and “I Love Rock and Roll.” Images of the artists who made the songs famous will appear on the big screen as they are performed.

Women Rock is a Schirmer Theatrical/Greenberg Artists co-production with arrangements by Jeff Tyzik, a Grammy® Award winner for producing The Tonight Show Band with Doc Severinsen. This is a new show and the TSO is only the third symphony to perform it following Rochester (NY) AND Grand Rapids (MI). Tucson is the first stop in 2018 and the show is scheduled to go to another 15 symphonies in the next 18 months.
